Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Life Long Learning (DTLLS) qualification currently known as DET course prepares trainee teachers to teach in a wide range of contexts, including further, adult and community education or work-based learning.

The Diploma in Education and Training DET is for anyone teaching or interested in teaching in a lifelong learning setting and in all subject areas including engineering, science, construction, sport science, maths, English, social sciences, languages, SEND, retail, hospitality and catering, leisure and tourism, business, IT, learning technologies, childcare, healthcare and art and design.

Introduction:
The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training DET/DTLLS is a teaching qualification which has a teaching/training practice requirement. It is an ‘in service’ qualification designed for those working or wishing to work as teachers/trainers in England. It may be possible for pre-service teachers/trainers (defined as those who are not formally contracted as teachers/trainers) to also complete this qualification. All candidates, whether pre-service or in-service must have access to 100 hours of teaching (volunteer teaching, paid / unpaid teaching, part time / full time teaching).

Candidates who successfully complete this qualification will take an analytical and practical approach to all aspects of planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning. Whilst doing this, candidates will embed theories and principles in education and training and demonstrate them in their practice.

Entry Requirements?
Candidates who like to complete this course must have completed Level 3 Award in Education & Training or former Level 3/4 PTLLS Course (C&G 6302 or 6502). Candidates for this course must have access to 100 hours of teaching and should have a good standard of verbal communications skills.
