Introduction:
This course is available for those operators with documentary evidence of formal training and who wish to renew their certification to use counterbalance forklift truck and will include theory instruction and assessment followed by practical operator training and assessment which will comply with the standard laid down in accordance with the HSE code of practice L117. This course enables successful operators to use any counterbalance forklift up to a 5000 kg lifting capacity (with authorisation) anywhere in the UK. This course consists of a classroom lecture, DVD presentation, written assessment, practical training and assessment.

The RTITB Forklift Training Course – Counterbalance – Refresher Operator course is designed for those with prior documented experience of forklift truck operation, who wish to refresh their qualification in the safe and correct use of counterbalance forklift up to a 5000 kg lifting capacity. The certification does not need to be in date to qualify to attend this course, and does not necessarily have to be a previous RTITB qualification. Since the safe use of forklift trucks require that delegates consult safety notices and read and thoroughly understand the manufacturer’s instruction manual, English literacy and language comprehension are important requirements for any user.

Who Needs Driver CPC Training?
New drivers who require a PCV / LGV vocational entitlement will have to obtain the initial Qualification in addition to their licence to drive professionally. If you passed your car test prior to January 1997 you will be classed as an Existing driver. This is known as “acquired rights” (LGV Only). All professional drivers (new or existing) must complete 35 hours of Periodic Training by September 2013 (PCV) and September 2014 (LGV) to keep their Driver CPC valid.

Vehicles used for non-commercial carriage of passenger or goods – for personal use
Vehicles used for carrying material or equipment to be used by the driver in the course of his or her work, providing that driving the vehicle is not the drivers’ principle activity.
